TEACHING EXPERIENCE:

Head of MFA and Phd in Vocal Pedagogy for Musical Theatre. 2017-, I teach graduate level voice for musical theatre and associated courses in the School of Theatre and the School of Music.

Head of Musical Theatre Voice 2017- Penn State University, University Park, PA, 2005-present, Associate Prof. of Voice for Musical Theatre (tenured). I teach applied vocal instruction focusing on a technique and curriculum specific to musical theatre to undergraduate BFA musical theatre majors and MFA musical theatre pedagogy majors. I taught applied voice and class voice to musical theatre majors emphasizing the use of classical principles. I also teach extensive work on the “belt” voice for use in theatrical singing. American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA), 2003-2005, Teacher of Voice. In this professional performance training program, I taught applied voice and class voice. My emphasis is to teach classical vocal principles and how to apply those principles in theatrical singing. I also teach extensively with the ‘belt’ voice, maintenance of, and or repair damage from improper use. Classroom: Musical Theatre Performance.

Trinity College, (Hartford, CT.) 2001-. Adjunct lecturer in Voice. I taught applied voice to classical and musical theatre students. Approaching the voice from classical methods, I address the specific needs of the young musical theatre singer and give the students the tools to develop and maintain a solid vocal technique suited for the varying styles of the musical theatre world. The lessons are one hour once a week and a performance class once a semester.

Private Voice: The students in my New York City studio perform on and off-Broadway, in regional theatre and other professional theatrical venues. Student Broadway credits include Beautiful, Aladdin, Pippin, Wicked, Mama Mia Titanic, Beauty and the Beast, Follies, Scarlett Pimpernel, Steel Pier, Cats, High Society, Thoroughly Modern Millie, Les Miserables. Gypsy, Xanadu and Grease, Finian’s Rainbow, Chorus line, Promises Promises, Hair, Cinderella, Kinky Boots, Soul Man,etc…1900-present.
